Get the Look Makeup Edition: Purple Reign

makeup looks for dark skin African American black women
Soft purples and pinks compliment a variety of skin tones.

I've been getting some questions about my makeup so I thought I'd share products I have tried or use on a daily basis and how I incorporate them into my makeup routine.

Check out the links below for products I used to get this look.

I started with a clean moisturized face and applied Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer.

I use a large powder brush to dust Iman Second to None Luminous Foundation in Earth-1 all over my entire face. This color matches my skintone. I use it to set the liquid foundation and concealer as well as return my skin to the correct color.

Tip: If you don't exfoliate regularly, now's the time to start!  Smoother skin texture makes your foundation go on much smoother.  Once a week, try making a paste by mixing a bit of baking soda with a mild cleanser and using it to gently scrub away the dead skin.  Follow up with a good moisturizer to counteract the drying effects of the baking soda. (Check out what I moisturize with after I exfoliate here.)

  1. Great! Thanks for posting. I am going to give the hourglass primer a try. Have you previously posted info about the eyelid primer? I'm looking for where to get that or what it's called.
