Peter Pilotto for Target: Fitting Room Reviews

I  decided to avoid the morning rush  on Target.com and Net-a-Porter and head to my local Target this morning to check out Target's latest collaboration with British designers; Peter Pilotto.  I've learned from experience with previous designer collaborations that the pieces I like when viewing the LookBook are not necessarily the pieces that look the best on me when I try them on in person.

My local Target opens at 8:00 a.m. and I made it there around 9:30. There were a few ladies there with LOTS of pieces in their baskets, and even a few husbands/boyfriends on cell phones browsing the Peter Pilotto section reporting the sizes and getting instructions from someone on what pieces to buy.  Good job guys! :)

There was a lot to choose from on the racks, but a few things were already sold out in my size.
I'm a size small and between a 4 and a 6 so I had to make a few judgments based on the way the clothing looked on the hanger.

I wanted to try this jacket and short set on but they were both already sold out in my size.

I tried this one on in a size 4 and it fit well.
I'm not afraid of color, but it was a bit to colorful and the skirt was a bit too full for my taste. Overall just not flattering on me. Pass.
Dress in Purple Floral Print, $69.99

I was pretty excited about this dress when I viewed the lookbook, but in person I didn't like it at all. I chose to try on the size 6 and it was a bit loose in the chest area. Perhaps I should have went down a size, but I didn't like it enough to go looking for a size smaller. Pass.
Belted Dress in Red Floral Print, $44.99

Good fit; and true to size.  I really liked the uniqueness of the skirt.
Blouse in Red Floral Print/Lace, $34.99
Skirt in Red Floral/Check Print, $34.99

Yuck, the entire back is out!
I must have missed this detail
in the LookBook???
The rashguards look very small on the hanger so I grabbed a medium instead of a small. The really unpleasant surprise was the design of the back; it's totally open.  I noticed the medium was slightly baggy, so perhaps the small would have looked better. It didn't matter to me because if I can't wear a bra with it then I'm not interested.   The skirt on the other hand fit perfectly. I really liked it and put it to the side with the Floral/Check Print skirt as a possible purchase.

These fit true to size, but did nothing for me. Pass.
Dress in Red Floral/Stripe Print, $39.99

I like this shirt dress. It fit true to size and would make a nice addition to my summer wardrobe.
You guys know how I love a good deal,
so I'm going to wait to see if it makes it to mark down rack at my local Target.
I like the mesh sleeves on the cardigan. Cute and a good price for a nice cardigan.
Cardigan in Blue/White/Black Colorblock, $34.99
Shirt Dress in Light Blue Floral/Check Print, $34.99

Surprisingly, this turned out to be my favorite of all the pieces.
Not enough for me to pay $50 for it, but I would definitely wear this romper in the summer.
Romper in Red Iris Print, $49.99

Both of these shirts are true to size and would make great layering pieces.
Cropped Sweater in White/Blue Print, $29.99
Shirt in Green Floral Print, $19.99

I liked the fit of these pants, but once again, it was a bit too much color and print for my taste.
I think these would look great on a cruise or at a beach resort!
Cardigan in Yellow/White/Black Colorblock, $34.99
Pant in Green Floral/Stripe Print, $39.99

This was one of my lookbook favorites.  I adore the details on these pants.
Unfortunately they didn't fit well for me ( a common problem with my pear shape.)
I was a bit disappointed because I really wanted this one to work.
Sweatshirt in Light Blue Floral/Check Print, $29.99
Pant in Black/Check Print, $34.99

I didn't see this floral dress in the LookBook, but I wasn't missing a thing. It's a stretchy cotton dress and looked super cheap on the hanger. I decided to give it a try anyway and sized up to a medium. It was droopy in the bust and clingy in the hips and ultimately as unflattering on as it looked on the hanger.  Pass, pass, and pass again!
This skirt on the other hand, is a nice fresh look for spring.
Skirt in Light Blue Floral/Check Print, $34.99

Overall, this collection wasn't one of my favorites and I didn't feel like I truly loved any of the pieces.
I decided to purchase one piece; the Skirt in Red Floral/Check Print.

Did you get anything from the Peter Pilotto collection for Target?

  1. Yes, I ordered some things online and shopped in store bright and early for my fitting room review. The romper looks so good, and my store didn't have it :( I liked the floral peplum tops, long-sleeved tees, and the sweatshirt especially. I love how you styled the pieces! The colorblock cardigan and striped pants are great together!
