A brown smokey eye is perfect for subtle daytime drama, but if you're a brown girl, it can be difficult to get your neutral shadows to really pop.

Try using eyeshadow base, or cream eyeshadow products to fix this issue.

While an eyeshadow primer can help with the longevity of your eyeshadow, a base is more about making the colors vivid.

Check out how I used

e.l.f. Jumbo Eye Shadow Stick in Little Miss Thing as base for a quick smoky brown eyeshadow look.

The stickiness of these pencils give powder shadows something to adhere to as well as provide a background to help neutral colors to stand out a bit more.

Here are some swatches of the products.

(If you have oily eyelids then start with a primer to keep your eyeshadow from creasing.)

Apply powder eyeshadow on top.
I'm using the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette for this look. (My favorite!!)
