Haul: NYX High Voltage Lipstick and Intense Butter Gloss

A girl can never have too many lipsticks, so I when I saw NYX's new line of High Voltage Lipstick and the new Intense Butter Gloss I thought I'd pick up a few and try them out.

From Left to Right:
High Voltage Lipstick: Stone, Flutter Kiss, & Dirty Talk
Intense Butter Gloss: Chocolate Crepe, Tres Leches,
& Spice Cake

Stone, Flutter Kiss, & Dirty Talk

NYX's website says that the new High Voltage line of lipsticks are shiny, and extremely pigmented, while gliding on with ease and leaving rich color in one swipe.

The packaging is nothing to get excited over; pretty basic.
I do like the clear cap that allows you easily see what color lipstick it is; a pretty helpful feature with larger lipstick collections.
On the flip side, the caps aren't very secure once opened, and came off in my purse several times.

Stone (HVLS13 beige)

Even though I was concerned "Stone" would not be a dark skin friendly color, I've been really into "greige" tones lately so I decided to give it a try anyway.

After swatching next to my favorite "greige" MAC Exclusive Event, I realized that NYX Stone leans more toward pink than gray. It's similar to Colourpop Tootsi, but lighter.

As I thought, I'm really not a huge fan of this color on my skin tone. For swatch purposes I didn't use a lip liner, but for WOC I suggest a brown lip liner to make it more wearable.

Flutter Kiss (HVLS05 soft pink mauve)

Flutter Kiss is a dupe for NYX Thalia.

NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Flutter Kiss
(Once again, I didn't use any lip liner for swatch purposes; but when actually wearing it I would line this with a brown liner like NYX Cappuccino to make it more wearable.)

Dirty Talk (HVLS12 Rich Brown)

NYX Dirty Talk is a reddish brown that is almost an exact dupe for

Black Radiance Espresso. It is also a close match to Limecrime

Salem, though Salem has a matte velvet finish.

Intense Butter Gloss
Chocolate Crepe, Tres Leches, & Spice Cake

Described on the NYX's website as being just like the original butter gloss formula but with more intense color. These are soft soft and glossy without being sticky.

I have always loved the consistency of NYX's Butter Gloss, and after trying them, I found myself more excited
about these than the High Voltage Lipsticks.

Chocolate Crepe (Deep Beige)

I don't know if I would call this one "deep beige", but I like it!
I don't really have anything like this gloss in my lippie collection.

Tres Leches (Nude)

Spice Cake (Deep Plum)

Overall, like most NYX products, these are a good price, and there are a  wide range of colors to compliment various skin tones. The formula of both the High Voltage Lipsticks and the Butter Gloss are creamy without being sticky which makes them comfortable to wear. This is a great buy for those who like to try different lipstick looks without spending a fortune on higher end products.  You can pick these up from Ulta or the NYX website.
