How to be the Leading Lady of Your Own Life

You’re right, the title was stolen right from the movie ‘The Holiday’. But, as Kate Winslet says, ‘you’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life for god’s sake!’. But, how many of us really are? How many of us actually wake up and walk out the front door brimming with confidence? We often look at the person standing next to us and wonder how she has it all figured out. That’s because we compare our worst bits to everyone else’s highlight reels. Here's some ideas on how you can walk out of your house and take the world by storm.

Find Your Inspiration

No leading lady can do without a muse. Got a goal? Sometimes you just need a little bit of inspiration to give you the nudge you need. Books, magazines, music, or whatever gets you going. Maybe you need some fight in you to reach your goals, sign up for a free trial at your local gym, or a few
kickboxing classes. Whatever it is, it’s important for you to be inspired and have an outlet when things get overwhelming.

Change Your Appearance

There’s a reason why women change their hairstyles after a breakup. Changing something about your appearance can signal a new beginning, and it’s often easier for your mind to follow once your body has set the pace. It could be anything from a change in hair color to a vertical facelift or the latest chemical peel. Looking the part will help you to play the part, even if you have to act your way through it for a while.

Stock Up on Your Favorite Fragrance

Has someone ever waked past you and a wonderful scent of perfume or cologone lingered. The good smell made you stop and take notice, and perhaps even ask the person what scent they are wearing. There’s something about walking into a room knowing you smell good that gives you a confidence boost. Try a subscription service like Scentbird to give a few designer fragrances a try so you can find your signature scent.

Learn from Failure

Failure is often the one thing that can put a stopper in confidence. However, failure can also be a catalyst to success. So, it all depends on how you look at it. You can fail at something and give up, or you can fail at something, learn from it and try again. There’s nothing like the feeling of succeeding when you’ve failed many times.

Be Ready

With new found confidence often comes new opportunities. If you’re scared to take on something new and exciting, it will show straight away. People who don’t want to be noticed often slouch into their chairs or hide in the back of a crowd. Stand up straight and be willing to take on new challenges. Just by simply opening yourself up to new possibilities, people will start to look at you differently.

Feeling like a leading lady yet?
